POTSDAM CENTRAL CONSIDERING DISPOSABLE UTENSILS IN CAFETERIAS—The Board of Education Finance Committee had a discussion about the possibility of switching to disposables to save money. Superintendent Pat Brady says the issue needs to be looked at carefully, for both environmental and cost concerns—whether or not the savings would merit a switch. Also, Brady cautions dish-washing equipment is in the upcoming capital project. Finance Chair Pat Turbett says he is sure new state mandates will come along that will ban disposables, and if the dish-washing equipment is not purchased now, it may not be aidable later so the taxpayers would “eat” that cost. Potsdam Central is dealing with a 1.2-million-dollar draft budget deficit for next school year.
