ASSEMBLYMAN BUTLER SAYS GUN CONTROL PACKAGE "SHOW OVER SUBSTANCE"--Republican 118th District representative Marc Butler told 99 News as he was about to vote "no" on an assault weapon ban and other measures Tuesday that the bills do nothing to solve real problems, and that the terms "assault weapon" and "assault rifle" can be disputed. He says most guns of that type are about as effective as a standard hunting rifle, maybe even less. Local representative Addie Russell, a Democrat voted yes; Republicans Ken Blankenbush and Janet Duprey voted no. The bills passed by a wide margin in the Assembly yesterday, the Senate on Monday. Governor Cuomo signed them into law
