STATE SENATOR LITTLE SAYS “LET'S SEE IF THE CLIMATE IN ALBANY CHANGES,” REFERRING TO SALES TAX HIKE REQUEST—Betty Little, the GOP Senator that will represent six townships in St. Lawrence County beginning in January when redistricting taxes effect, told 99 News in an interview Thursday she has “always supported home rule,” but is unsure if the Legislature or Governor would accept a request by the county to raise sales tax by one percentage point. The county has hired a lobbyist to push for it. Little says the scene as it is now is not receptive to any new taxes or fees, at all; but that could change. She says there has always been discussion about all counties being allowed to have 4 percent, and to make that happen with one bill instead of individual county requests. The majority of the county legislature seeks the 14 million dollars the one percent would generate to help ease the budget burden.
