    CONTROLLING WHERE PEOPLE CAN SMOKE CURBS USE RATES, NUMBERS SAY—Ben Todd, Director of the St. Lawrence County Tobacco Program says recent data from Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg shows that a tobacco ban on its property implemented five years ago has cut employee tobacco use rates by 50 percent. Today marks the annual American Cancer Society “Great American Smokeout” that urges people to quit for a day, in the hopes they stop for good.

    RUSSELL MAN ACCUSED OF STEALING LICENSE PLATES LAST WEEK, NOW FACES MORE CHARGES—Sheriff's Deputies arrested 47-year-old Timothy Kruger last night on counts of DWI and other charges after a personal injury crash on County Route 25. He was arrested last week on several counts alleging he took the plates off a customer's vehicle at a dealership in Dekalb. Kruger was released on court appearance tickets for both incidents.

    MACOMB TOWN HALL RUCKUS BRINGS ASSAULT CHARGE—Sheriff's Deputies arrested 60-year-old Ronald Cardinell of County Route 10 Tuesday on a misdemeanor count of third degree assault, alleging he struck a Macomb Town Councilman causing injury. Cardinell was released on a court appearance ticket.
