ST.LAWRENCE COUNTY WAS PREPARED FOR “SANDY”--County Emergency Services Director Joseph Gilbert told Congressman Bill Owens Monday in advance of the tropical storm's arrival that the approach as “pre-emptive;” municipalities around the county were informed Friday of the coming event and encouraged to keep the county updated on damage. The event was relatively uneventful for county; winds did reach the 40-plus mph range in the immediate Potsdam area but there was little to no damage. Our internet and phone service was out all night and for much of the morning today, as it was for much of our listening area.
