SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT, “TAKE ME AS I AM” ATTITUDE PREVENTS MANY PEOPLE FROM GETTING JOBS, TEACHER SAYS—David Timm, a welding instructor for St.Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Northwest Tech in Gouverneur, told a group of technology teachers, business leaders and school counselors gathered for a conference at Clarkson University Friday many young people he sees today don't understand why they don't get hired, when they go into a job interview with tattoos and piercings, and an attitude they don't have to conform to rules about dress and being on time. He says the mother of one student he had last year with a chronic attendance problem was brought in for a conference, and it was learned the student was brought breakfast in bed every morning. He says the attitude of “I get what I want when I want it” is commonplace today.
