TREES ARE THE MAIN OBSTRUCTION TO POTSDAM AIRPORT EXPANSION, ACCORDING TO MASTER PLAN—The plan for Damon Field was unveiled for the public yesterday by the Village and C&S Engineers. The overall plan, in three phases going to 2029, would cost just under 6 million-dollars to implement in full with a local share of about 811-thousand-dollars. Runway, taxiway, t-hangar, and apron expansions are all part of the document. It is estimated the airport will see about double the traffic and based planes in 2029. It currently sees about 3700 planes a year in-and-out and bases about 11 planes on site. Engineer Kimberly Fabend told 99 News the next step is to do environmental studies on the land surrounding the airport, and what can be taken down or preserved.
