POTSDAM TOWN COUNCIL TO HOLD TAXPAYER EDUCATION MEETINGS SOON—The Council and Supervisor Marie Regan agreed this week there should be at least one meeting in the near future to help the public be informed about the tax assessment process, and how to challenge it if need be; in light of an upcoming re-value in 2013. The last re-val a few years ago sparked controversy that resulted in the formation of the Town of Potsdam Taxpayers' Association (TOPTA), that has had meetings of their own for taxpayers to learn about the same issues. ALSO FROM THE TOWN COUNCIL—The Council saw no public comments Tuesday on a resolution giving it the option of going over the state tax cap next budget year. The Council foresees Article 7 challenges that may force it to raise revenue.
