UPSTATE NIAGARA CEO HINTS AT DISAPPOINTMENT OVER LACK OF PIPELINE FUNDS—Larry Webster told those gathered for the ceremony marking the re-opening of the dairy in North Lawrence last week that he hopes the plant in North Lawrence will generate jobs for “....natural gas line workers...and I hope somebody understands what that means here.” Franklin County legislators contributed 1.5 million-dollars toward a pipeline that will run from just outside Massena to Chateaugay, and include the dairy. The project will be done in pieces as funds are available. St. Lawrence County has, thus far, not committed to the pipeline despite intense lobbying from St. Lawrence Gas and Franklin County officials. Paul Maroun, the Mayor of Tupper Lake and a legislator representing a district close to St. Lawrence County, told 99 News last week the gas company is furious with St. Lawrence County and the delay in the pipeline issue could jeopardize the jobs at the dairy.
