    CONGRESSMAN SAYS GETTING THE FARM BILL TO THE FLOOR WILL BE TOUGH--Bill Owens, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, told reporters in Ogdensburg Monday he forecasts difficulty with persuading the House Rules Committee to get the 2012 package reported out. Owens says it's a "sign of good balance" that, in the Ag Committee where it passed, that opposition to the bill was bi-partisan which a compelling reason for Rules to release it. Owens says it's his concern that GOP members of the House do not want a bipartisan bill.

    TRUSTEES HIRE INTERIM CODE ENFORCER--The Potsdam Village Board was unanimous in bringing on Andrew Martin, an engineer from Ogdensburg who works full-time at the SUNY Potsdam Physical Plant, to assume the position on a part-time basis until a new CEO is hired. The Board fired CEO Tim O'Brien in May; retired code enforcer John Hill filled in for about a month. O'Brien filed a Notice of Claim against the Village; Mayor Steve Yurgartis says issues have been discussed related to the termination of O'Brien's one-year probationary appointment.
