2012 POTSDAM HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES DESCRIBED AS HAVING “SPIRIT”--that was the assessment from Principal Joanne Chambers Friday. Speakers took brave departures from the usual graduation rhetoric; Superintendent Pat Brady said “...this is a time when conformity replaces individuality, timidity replaces courage, and anything new or different is called 'lame' or 'been there done that'—and it doesn't have to be this way.” Student-selected keynote speaker Jake Roberts, an English teacher said it's sad that, when asked why they come to school they answer “to go to college.” “to play sports,” or “to get a job.” Nine Sandstoner graduates this year are headed for the military.
