SIX COUNTS FILED AFTER MASSENA CRASH—Village Police say 19-year-old Andrew Mc. Donald of Hough Road allegedly crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Center Street and Cornell Avenue, and fled the scene early Sunday. He was caught on Andrews Street about 2am, and found to have an alleged BAC of .18 percent or more. He was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DWI, one of them Aggravated; and several lesser counts then released on a court appearance ticket.
TRIPLE CELEBRATION SUNDAY AT MADRID UNITED CHURCH—The church celebrated its addition to both state and national historic registers, the restoration of its famed HJ Horwood stained glass Good Shepard window, and 175 years of Methodism in the community. The nearly-priceless Horwood window was installed in 1918 at the no longer extant First Methodist Church, which was torn down in the early 1970's after the Congregational Church and the Methodist congregation merged to form the United Church and use the Congregational structure. The Good Shepard window was put in the space between the church proper and the Sunday School addition built after the merger. Horwood, of Ogdensburg, put his signature in the image of the Bible at the top of the window, the only one to have the signature in that form.
