LAND NEAR ROUTE 56 WATER TOWER HAS DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL, MAYOR SAYS—Steve Yurgartis, Potsdam Village Mayor and Chair of the Potsdam Village Comprehensive Plan Committee, told the committee last week 27 acres of additional real estate came with the property when the Village foreclosed on the water tower built as part of the Lowe's Home Improvement Center project. Yurgartis says an RFP is out for architectural and-or engineering firms to see how the property can be developed—hopefully for more residential opportunities the village needs.
14 CRIMINAL CHARGES TOTAL FOR ALLEGED UNDERAGE ALCOHOL SERVICE AT A POTSDAM BAR—Village Police on Sunday charged 19-year-old Aubrie Harmon of Liverpool and 20-year-old Rachel Garrett of Mexico with seven counts each of unlawfully dealing with a child. The arrests stem from a February 14th routine bar check at Backstreets where the two were allegedly serving alcohol to persons underage. Harmon and Garrett were both released on court appearance tickets.
OGDENSBURG MOTEL BURGLARY ALLEGED, ARREST MADE—State Police charged 37-year-old Andrew Mason Saturday on a felony count alleging he burglarized rooms at the Stone Fence Motel off Route 37. A check with St.Lawrence County Corrections found he was not jailed.
ARMED ROBBERY ATTEMPT IN ST.REGIS FALLS RESULTS IN SIX ARRESTS—State Police in Malone speaking to the Watertown Daily Times say 23-year-old Adam Baublitz of Brasher, 24-year-old Kassi Lynn Baublitz of Brasher, 18-year-old Jon Alec Connell of Winthrop, 17-year-old Johnathan Barto of Brasher, and 16-year-old Christopher Randall of Moira, plus an unidentified 15-year-old Lawrence juvenile female allegedly entered a residence on South Main Street in the Falls last Wednesday evening brandishing a handgun, and allegedly made threats to a male resident. Nothing was reported stolen. The Baublitzes, Randall, and Barto were arraigned and jailed on 50-thousand-dollars cash bail or 100-thousand-dollars bail bond; Connell on 5-thousand-dollars cash bail or 10-thousand-dollars bail bond; the youth was released pending a petition to Franklin County Family Court.
