POTSDAM SCHOOL FORUM ATTENDEES SAY NOT EVERY STUDENT CAN BE SHAPED FOR THE SAME FUTURE—The school district Thursday held its first in a series of three forums about what the community wants to see as the 2012-2013 budget is developed. One of the breakout groups formed as an input-gathering mechanism reported out the notion that it's wrong to assume that every student will go to college, and to determine success or failure based on that model. Superintendent Pat Brady says every student has value, and going to college is not the only measure of success. Also expressed is the desire for parents to have proof their tax dollars are getting results; Brady says the notion of 'doing more with less'--having to comply with more and tougher mandates in the face of dwindling resources can only go so far.
