NUMBER OF NEEDY FAMILIES IN POTSDAM AREA THIS YEAR MANY TIMES OVER LAST--Jane Wells, Director of Helping Hands of Potsdam, Inc. says what she and her colleagues in other agencies that help the less fortunate are seeing this year is many hard-working families that never needed help in the past, totally devastated this year with rising costs. She told us the number of Thanksgiving food baskets her agency and others are preparing this year has multiplied by several times in some cases.

GRIFFO: PATERSON WASTED OUR TIME LAST WEEK--State Senator Joe Griffo says about last week's Extraordinary Session of the Legislature, that there were some bills in draft form to go over, otherwise nothing was accomplished. Paterson called for 2 million more dollars in cuts back in September.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ALLEGATIONS IN POTSDAM SEND RUSSELL MAN TO JAIL--Potsdam Police arrested 34-year-old Casey Collins Monday on couts of aggravated harassment and misdemeanor criminal mischief, alleging his role in a domestic dispute, and for allegedly making a threatening phone call afterward. Collins was arraigned and jailed on 1-thousand dollars cash bail or 2-thousand dollars bail bond.

OGDENSBURG PAIR ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED THEFT FROM WATERTOWN MALL STORE--State Police say 36-year-old Raymond Bjork, Jr. and 23-year-old Kimberly Dedrick allegedly swiped about 288 dollars in merchandise from Sears in the Salmon Run Mall Saturday. They were caught but were able to flee on foot. They were picked up Monday in Ogdensburg on counts of petit larceny; released on court appearance tickets.
