POTSDAM ARMED ROBBERY INVESTIGATED--Three males entered a residence off Route 11B, struck the male resident with a gun and made off with 1200 dollars cash. More details will be released later.

NEWTON FALLS FIRE NEARLY KILLS FAMILY; TEEN TREATED IN SYRACUSE FOR BURNS--Flames destroyed the residence of Justin and Wanda Brownell on County Route 60 Tuesday night. The couple and an infant left through the first floor, but a teen son was forced to jump out a second-floor window. He is currently in treatment at a Syracuse hospital.  A wood stove pipe is to blame.

CONVICTED METAL THIEF ARRESTED ON NUMEROUS BAD CHECK COUNTS--Donald White, 45 of Norfolk was arrested this week by Sheriff's Deputies on counts alleging he kited numerous bad checks to businesses in Potsdam and Morristown. White is already facing prison as a repeat felon for metal thefts from Newton Falls Fine Paper.

SUNY POTSDAM TOWNHOUSE FIRE INVESTIGATED; OUT BEFORE FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED--Potsdam firefighters rolled to the SUNY Potsdam Townhouses for what was reported to be a fire in a bedroom. Residents put out the fire with an extinguisher; the cause is under investigation.

ARRESTS MADE IN HOGANSBURG MURDER CASE--38-year-old Richard Oakes and 24-year-old Rhonda Dufoe, who reportedly live together in Snye, Quebec were arrested and jailed without bail Thursday in connection with the death of Thomas Hathaway, found shot in the head within his burned residence on Akwesasne this past September. Both are charged with murder. Tribal Police say Hathaway had a 'personal relationship' with the couple

SECOND ARREST MADE IN GOUVERNEUR PRISON SEX SCANDAL--State Police arrested 38-year-old Laura Douglass of Potsdam Wednesday on numerous felony counts in the same case that brought the arrest of Lisa Vaughn of Carthage last week. Douglass is charged with rape, criminal sexual act, and contraband charges alleging relations and deviate relations with Gouverneur prison inmates.
