1 MILLION DOLLARS FOR POTSDAM SOFTWARE VENTURE--The Seaway Private Equity Corporation recently agreed to invest in Spice CSM, LLC. The company is a spin-off from Fused Solutions that will build on call center software already in use by its Potsdam center. 16-20 new jobs are expected from the new venture within a year.

SLU CLOSE TO HIRING NEW PRESIDENT--Dr. William Fox, a college president in Missouri who is also an ordained minister is on the campus this week for a series of meetings. If hired, Fox would replace Dr. Daniel Sullivan, who is retiring at the end of the current academic year.

34 BUSTED, SOME LOCAL IN FEDERAL MARIJUANA SMUGGLING CRACKDOWN--The indictments handed up to Federal Court Tuesday are mostly of Cornwall, Ontario area residents accused of smuggling thousands of kilos of marijuana through Akwesasne to points in the eastern US. If convicted, the suspects face at least 10 years in prison and fines of up to 4 million dollars, each.

SERIOUS DRUNKEN DRIVING ARREST IN POTSDAM--Police pulled over 22-year-old Ryan Blake of New Hampshire early this morning, and found him to allegedly have a BAC of .23%. Blake was arrested for Aggravated DWI and other counts answerable in Village Court in December.

RAY FADDEN DEAD AT 98--The legendary Native American teacher, folklorist, researcher, and activist of Delaware Indian roots was so highly revered that he was adopted into the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.
