AMP LEGISLATION SET TO MOVE FORWARD IN ALBANY NEXT SESSION--Alliance for Municipal Power Chairman Robert Best says legislation making AMP a public authority that would break free from National Grid and form its own public power utility, has a good shot at passing next session now that Democrats Addie Jenne Russell and Darrel Aubertine are in their respective majorities.

GOUVERNEUR PRISON EMPLOYEE CHARGED FOR HAVING SEX WITH INMATES--State Police say they and Corrections investigators discovered 41-year-old Lisa Vaughn of Carthage, a laundry supervisor at Gouverneur Correctional Facility, allegedly had sex and deviate sex with numerous inmates over several years. More arrests are pending the completion of their investigation. Vaughn was charged with 16 counts of rape, criminal sexual act, and official misconduct; plus promotion of prison contraband; arraigned and released to probation supervision until future court dates.

CANTON CHILD PORN TRAFFICKER CAUGHT--Village Police say 47-year-old John Forster of Buck Street was found to allegedly possess numerous pornographic images of persons under 16, and was intercepted by the State Police Computer Crimes Unit as having allegedly traded in child porn over the internet. Forster was arraigned yesterday on counts of felony possession and promotion of a sexual performance by a child and released to probation supervision until future court dates. The investigation is continuing; anyone with information is asked to call 386-4561.

SEVENTH INDICTMENT HANDED UP IN FATAL STOCKHOLM SHOOTING--31-year-old Brian, aka "Wildcat" Herne of Hogansburg was named recently in a Federal Grand Jury Indictment connecting him with six others involved in the marijuana and cash-related robbery and shooting of 31-year-old Daniel Simonds of Stockholm in May of this year. Herne faces up to 20 years in Federal prison and a quarter-million dollar fine.

FATHER OF FIREY OGDENSBURG-AREA CRASH SUSPECT NOW ALSO CHARGED--State Police arrested 47-year-old Donald Gilbo, Sr. of Ogdensburg Friday on misdemeanor counts of obstructing governmental administration and making a punishable false written statement in connection with the November 2nd crash on Gilmore Road where a vehicle driven by his son, Donald, Jr. traveled off the pavement into a tree near a house. All caught fire and were destroyed. The son was arraigned earlier this week and jailed on numerous criminal and motor vehicle counts.
