O'NEILL:FAVORS NOT AUTOMATIC FOR NORTH COUNTRY WITH DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY--New York State Democratic Party Chair June O'Neill told 99 News Wednesday the fact St. Lawrence County is the home of the chair of the majority party in Albany now, and the fact local Senator Darrel Aubertine is in that majority, does not guarantee 'getting stuff'; she says in the current budget crisis those kinds of favors are in short supply for everyone. However, O'Neill says having the pipeline to the highest places in Albany ensures pleas will be heard, and possibly prioritized higher.

BAD CHECK PROSECUTION ALTERNATIVE UNVEILED--St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve said Friday bad check writers will have the alternative of restitution and fees, instead of traditional prosecution methods. Those who refuse to comply will still face possible trial, and forgery and similar fraud cases do not qualify for the program.

ICE FEES UP AT PINE STREET NEXT YEAR--The Potsdam Town Council voted Thursday in agreement with the Village Board to raise the rates 10 dollars beginning next October, to 90 dollars an hour non-prime-time and 95 dollars prime-time. Councilmembers Rollin Beattie and Judy Rich said no; they both feel it is not fair to everyone.

ARREST MADE IN MORRISTOWN CAR CRASH-HOUSE FIRE CASE--State Police arrested 47-year-old Donald Gilbo, Sr. of Haggart Road, Ogdensburg this week on numerous motor vehicle counts alleging he drove off Gilmore Road into a tree, setting the car on fire and igniting a nearby house to destruction Sunday. Gilbo was released on court appearance tickets.

MASSENA BANK EMPLOYEE BUSTED FOR CASH THEFTS--Police arrested 40-year-old Dawn Foster this week on a felony count of Grand Larceny, alleging she swiped cash from NBT Bank in Massena. Further details were not available.
