Kelleher Scores Natural Hat Trick In First Period As Potsdam Routs Norwood-Norfolk

99 SPORTS FEATURE GAME ON 99.3 FM WSNN PRESENTED BY SCOTT'S AUTO CENTER

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS HOCKEY

POTSDAM 6, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 1

The Sandstoners follow through with a big league and move one step closer to the D-I regular season title.

Potsdam flew out to a 4-0 lead after one period as PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Trevor Kelleher scored a natural hat trick with goals at 4:33, 5:53, and 11:58 of the first period.  Connor Warden the other tally with Chad Varney producing three assists.

The Stoners out shot the Icemen 14-1 in the first period.  However the tables turned in the second as Norwood-Norfolk accumulated shots on goal and eventually scored when Austin Cousineau tucked home a pass from Brandon Short to close the gap to three.

Devon Crary was called upon to stop 16 in the second period for Potsdam who scored two goals in the last 18 seconds to push the lead to five.  Kelleher notched his fourth of the game unassisted with 18 seconds left and then Chad Varney finished off a Robbie Scott pass with 1.7 seconds to go to finish the scoring, winning the second.

Crary ended up with 28 saves in the win while Icemen goalie Brandon Richards halted 24.  Potsdam needs two points against OFA on Friday to claim the top seed and regular season title in D-I Hockey.
