Potsdam Men Roll Past Oneonta, Lake Scores 25

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

POTSDAM 82, ONEONTA 62

The Bears set the tone with hot shooting and strong rebounding in defeating the Red Dragons in SUNYAC play.

Potsdam built a 15 point lead in the first half at 27 -12 with solid play on both sides of the floor. Mark Lake Jr. sparked the Bears with 12 first half points.

Oneonta made a run to close the gap to four by halftime as Frankie Kelly and Jack Dignan combined for 16 points not missing a shot in the process.

Potsdam sprinted out to a 16-4 start to second half capped off by a Lake Jr. three pointer and tow Josh Lambert free thorws.

The Red Devils would get the game back to 63-50, but a 8-0 run after a Potsdam time out would push the lead back to 21 putting the game out of reach.

Lake Jr. led the Bears with 25 points going 10 for 14 from the field. Pierce fell one rebound short of a double double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Joe Estramonte added 10.

For Oneonta, Zack Mager went 10 for 12 from the line in scoring 16 for the contest. Frankie Kelly added 14 and Jack Dignan scored 11.

The Lady Bears fall hard to Oneonta in the first of two SUNYAC games on the weekend.

The Red Dragons held Potsdam to 13 points and 17 percent shooting in the first half. Oneonta started the game on an 11-0 run. Kristen Pappalardo came off the bench to scored 12 in the game.  Grace Schilling netted 13 for Oneonta.

For Potsdam, Chenice Russell scored ten as the Bears still look for there first conference win of the season.
