POTSDAM 4, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 3 (OT/F)
After giving up a 3-0 lead, the Bears win thier first non-league contest of the weekend downing the Golden Bears.
A turnover in the neutral zone led to Adam Place on a break away where he back handed the game winner over WNEC goalie Tim Carr with 29.5 seconds left.
Potsdam bolted out to a 3-0 lead as Zack Blake redirected an Erick Ware shot at 5:48. Fourteen seconds later Mike Arnold took the puck after a face off win and wristed one top shelf for a 2-0 cuhsion. Billy Pascalli then finshed off an Adam Place pass to give the Bears a 3-0 lead eleven minutes into the game.
WNEC responded on their only power play of the period when William Preston turned around and snuck a long shot past Potsdam's Jon Hall to close the gap to two.
In the second, Chris Connors scored back to back goals with the game tying goal coming off a rebound at the 15:33 mark of the second knotting the game at 3-3.
Both goalies were tested in the third but neither yielded the game winner.
In Overtime, which was played at 4 on 4 because of ECAC Northeast rules, Matt Viola found the puck at the red line and tapped it ahead to Place for the game winner on the break away.
Erick Ware added two assists and Hall stopped 33 in his first colligate win. Carr managed 35 saves for the Golden Bears.
