CONGRESSMAN SAYS “FISCAL CLIFF” AVERSION DEAL IS A MIX OF TEMPORARY RELIEF AND GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT—House Ag Committee member and local Representative Bill Owens told 99 News late yesterday perhaps the best part of the compromise package passed in both chambers and heading for the President's desk, at least locally is the preservation of MILC program at levels set in August, and the preservation of Bush-era tax cuts for singles making up to 400-thousand-dollars and couples 450-thousand. He also says estate tax provisions that allow small business owners and especially farmers to pass on their assets to their children is a key. Owens says two disappointments are evident....the failure to pass the 2012 Farm Bill and failure to compromise on Hurricane Sandy relief measures.
