On December 11, 2012 Canton Village Police were conducting an investigation into suspected drug activity in the area of Law Lane. As a result of the investigation Zachary C. Racine 26, of 64 Law Lane was charged with Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 5^th Degree –Intent to Sell (D-Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument (A-Misdemeanor). Racine was arraigned in front of Town Justice O’Horo and remanded to County Jail on $2000 cash or $4000 bond.

Also charged was Patrick A. Frender 23, of 38 Law Lane whom was charged with Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument (A-Misdemeanor). Frender was issued an appearance ticket returnable January 4, 2013 at 1:30 pm.

The suspects were stated to be residing in the Assisted Living Program located at Law Lane which one function is to help recovering addicts.

St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force assisted in the investigation including the Sheriff’s K-9 Hershey who alerted on Racine’s vehicle after being stopped by Village Police. As a result of the search bundles of Heroin and Hypodermic Needles were found. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.

Also assisting in the investigation were US Border Patrol, New York State Police, Gouverneur Police Departments.
