“YES-11” CO-SPOKESPERSON SAYS COMMENTS RECENTLY ABOUT “I-98” ARE “OVER THE TOP”--John Danis told us Monday a recent comment by Hewittville resident Mark Bellardini that the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid were hampered by not having an east-west interstate highway, is way off-base. Danis says the real problem was the roads in the Adirondacks. Danis also says studies have proven many times that the so-called “Rooftop Highway” was not, is not, and will never be viable; that upgrades to the existing US Highway 11 are sustainable. Danis commented on the news the St. Lawrence County Legislature Economic Enhancement Sub-Committee agreed late last month the highway is the only way to bring any meaningful economic development to the North Country.
