Chateaugay Girls Advance to State Final Four On Saturday

ARNOLD NAMED SUNYAC HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SUNY Potsdam hockey player Mike Arnold has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11.

Arnold recorded a hat trick on three power-play goals in the Bears dramatic come-from-behind 5-4 victory over Buffalo State on Saturday night. Two of the junior's goals came in the third period, including the game-winner with 1:32 left. Arnold also added an assist for a four-point night. The hat trick was his second this season.

This year, Potsdam's assistant captain leads his team in scoring with eight goals and three assists for 11 points in five games. Arnold leads the SUNYAC in goals (7), points (9), power-play goals (5) and scoring average (2.25 goals-per-game) in four conference contests. Nationally, he is first in power-play goals (5), eighth in scoring average (2.20 gpg) and third in goals-per-game (1.60).

The Bears (3-2, 2-2 SUNYAC) hit the road this weekend for two crucial contests with Brockport and Geneseo. Potsdam takes on the Golden Eagles at 7 p.m. on Friday and the Ice Knights at the same time on Saturday.


Sam Rakoc, St. Lawrence, Liberty League Cross Country Performer of the Week
Sam Rakoc finished sixth at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship in Rochester, N.Y., and was the top Liberty League runner with a time of 25:34.4. The Saints' men's cross country team, which finished fifth overall in the race, receieved an at-large to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

Spencer Patterson was the top Liberty League rookie at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship in Rochester, N.Y., finishing 18th with a time of 25:59.7.

, Liberty League Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Ella Martin was the top Libert League rookie to finish the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship meet. Martin finished the 6k course fifth overall with a time of 22:02.6.

, Liberty League Men's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week
Mark Provost scored the game-winning goal in double overtime that gave the Saints a 2-1 first-round victory in the NCAA tournament.

Liberty League Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Dan Hunt's first collegiate goal in the 84th minute of regulation forced overtime against Eastern Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Saints ended up winning 2-1 in the 96th minute. 
 
Adrienne Walker, Clarkson, Liberty League Volleyball Performer of the Week
Clarkson University sophomore middle hitter Adrienne Walker was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA New York Regional, striking for 41 kills (3.15 per set) with a .386 hitting percentage. She also added 1.08 blocks per set (14 total). She had 16 kills against Nazareth and 18 kills versus New Paltz in the regional championship.

Liberty League Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Clarkson University freshman outside hitter Victoria Kirkemo had a team-best 51 kills (3.86 per set) to go along with 29 digs (2.23 per set) and seven aces in three matches en route to being named to the NCAA New York Regionall All-Tournament team.



SLU WOMEN'S EARN HIGHEST RANKING IN REGIONAL POLLS
The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team has earned the No. 15 ranking in the Division III Northeast Regional rankings, the highest in program history, after an impressive fall season.

The Saints reached the No. 15 spot having put together a solid resume in the first half of the season. Sophomore Elkie Vandenbeemt and rookie Morgan McNeal combined for 11 singles wins during the fall, including victories against top players from Geneseo, RIT, Hamilton and Vassar. St. Lawrence earned a 6-3 win over Hamilton College out of the NESCAC, and advanced to the semifinals in five of the nine draws at the 2012 New York State Tournament.

Sophomore Samantha Miller and first-year Suzanne Weinstein showcased St. Lawrence's depth at the Mary Hosking Invitational at William Smith, as the duo won the "B" Doubles Championship. Miller and Weinstein took out two teams from the hosting Herons as well as duos from Rochester and Nazareth en route to the title.

The Saints will have several weeks off before beginning to train for the spring season, which gets underway on March 2, 2013 at Ithaca College.
