99 NEWS FOR THURSDAY, 11/1/12 “FISHCAP” EFFORTS SELL COUNTY LEGISLATORS ON CHAMBER—The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce got a 10-percent funding cut, to 180-thousand-dollars for 2013. The County Legislature heard over an hour of comments this week from outside agencies; all stood to lose all their County allotments. Efforts to bring “BASSMASTERS” to Waddington next summer and a potential partnership with sporting goods giant Cabela's were pushed. The only other outside agencies that got most of their funding kept were the Historian and Soil and Water Conservation; they also got 10 percent cuts. All others got their 2013 funding eliminated—that includes a controversial elimination of library funds. The Legislature is dealing with a multi-million-dollar deficit for next year and a current draft tax hike in the range of about 15 percent. ALSO ONLINE TODAY.....
