STD CASES IN ST.LAWRENCE COUNTY “CONSISTENTLY HIGH”--County Public Health Director Dr. Susan Hathaway says trends in sexually-transmitted disease cases in the this county do not reflect the precipitous increase seen in neighboring Franklin County. The adjacent county saw chlamydia cases go up 44 percent last year, and its Public Health Department has asked for money in next year's budget to combat it. Hathaway says the numbers do not reflect socio-economic status, they are high across-the-board all the time. The number of college students is one factor in the high number.
