99 NEWS FOR WEDNESDAY, 8/29/12 ACTIVIST, CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE HASSIG ARRESTED IN WATERTOWN—Green Party 21st Congressional District candidate Donald Hassig of Colton told us he was picked up by City Police Tuesday evening after he allegedly used a CD boom-box plugged into a city-owned electrical outlet on Washington Street near the offices of the Watertown Daily Times. He told us a Theft of Services charge against him was dropped, but a Disorderly Conduct charge stood, and that he was locked up in the City Police hold before being bailed out on 100 dollars cash. Hassig has been pushing for government-sponsored education related to what he says is valid science linking industrial pollutants in the food supply with the risk of getting cancer. He told us he wants to build a record, as it's the essence of grass-roots politics he stands for.
