HEARING ON POWER DEAL DRAWS HANDFUL OF SPEAKERS—Only three people spoke within the first ten minutes of a three-hour public hearing Thursday on the agreement to be considered by Governor Cuomo between the New York Power Authority, Massena Electric Department, and the St.Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency; that would allow MED to re-sell up to 20 megawatts from the St.Lawrence-FDR Hydro Project at cost-based rates to potential job generators. Governor David Paterson nixed a previous agreement because the document did not explicitly give NYPA review over the applications for the low-cost power allocations. All three speakers supported the deal, SLRVRDA Chair Bob Mc.Neil says the “green power” generated by the project is “exceptionally marketable.”
