USA HOCKEY U-16 TIER II NATIONALS

FLINT PHANTOMS 1. ST. LAWRENCE THUNDER 0

The St. Lawrence Thunder open pool play in the USA Regionals in Green Bay with a narrow loss, setting up a must win on Thursday.

The Phantoms scored the game winning goal on the power play as Eric Hewitt sent a point shot on goal that beat Jake Watson up high at 1:43 of the second period.  The Thunder's Tyler Young had a potential goal taken away by a Phantom defenseman as he swept the puck off the goal line which would have tied the game.

Despite being out shot by the Thunder early in the third, Flint goalie Ryan Gasparovic handed 28 shots in the win and Jake Watson halted 23 for the Thunder.

St. Lawrence takes on Madison , Wisconsin Thursday afternoon at 1pm.     .
