99 NEWS FOR MONDAY, 3/26/12

DANGEROUSLY-DRY CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH COUNTRY FOR MUCH OF THIS WEEK--The National Weather Service in Burlington has a fire wind watch in effect for tomorrow; relative humidity in the range of 15 percent coupled with high winds and already tinder-dry ground and vegetation increases the risk of grass and brush fires even higher than it has been. St.Lawrence County Deputy Coordinator for Public Fire Safety and Education Joe Lacks asked us to remind the public those caught setting an out-of-control fire will be prosecuted....especially if there is already-illegal open trash burning and currently-banned open brush burning. Violations of the open burn bans are at least a Class B Misdemeanor, and depending on the amount of damage, a possible Felony Arson charge.
