MORE ITEMS ADDED BACK TO POTSDAM SCHOOL SPENDING PLAN—Assuming Potsdam Central gets back about 150-thousand-dollars in state aid that was originally meant for competitive grants, staff presented the Board of Education Finance Committee Tuesday add-backs in addition to two, previous sets of proposed add-backs...a music teaching position, modified and intramural sports in the middle school, middle school student mentoring, a half Language Other Than English teaching position to preserve Latin, a clerical position, and half a science teaching position. Superintendent Pat Brady says he is aware the add-back of modified sports is open to criticism, but activities outside the classroom enhance students' work in academics. Athletic Director Mark Wilson told the committee the program teachers about more than just winning and losing.
