BLANKENBUSH: COMPETITIVE AID DOES NOT WORK FOR SCHOOLS--Ken Blankenbush, the Assemblyman representing the 122nd District covering part of St.Lawrence County, told 99 News Saturday he believes the system Governor Andrew Cuomo has proposed for schools to compete for 250-million-dollars in aid is inspired by Cuomo's time as head of HUD at the Federal level--something Blankenbush says works for housing and community development projects, but not for schools. Blankenbush is part of the entire North Country delegation in support of putting competitive aid back into the formula for schools, and making sure poor, rural schools get the most help.
