MEETINGS BETWEEN POTSDAM MAYOR, UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT, HOSPITAL CEO PLANNED; MAYOR SAYS—Steve Yurgartis said in response to public comment Monday that he plans in the near future to meet with Canton-Potsdam Hospital CEO David Acker, Clarkson President Tony Collins, and SUNY Potsdam President John Schwaller as a group to talk about issues. At Monday's Trustees meeting, George Arnold of Bay Street says the three entities are the “three big elephants in the Potsdam living room,” that provide many benefits while at the same time many problems the taxpayers have to deal with—and they are tax-exempt. Trustee Ruth Garner says the tax-exempt status is not the Village's fault; it's state-mandated.
