Madrid-Waddington Boys Advance To Class D Quarterfinals

PLATTSBURGH 47, POTSDAM 37

The Sandstoners fall to the Section VII champions as they are unable to comeback after a strong start to the second half by the Hornets.

Ethan Votraw hepled Plattsburgh to a one point lead at halftime with 11 points.  The Hornets jumped out to an 8-0 start in the third and led by nine late in the quarter 38-29.  Potsdam used turnovers to get back in the game scoring five straight quickly in closing the gap to 38-35.

Plattsburgh ended the game on a 9-2 run holding Potsdam to only three field goals in the fourth quarter.  Votraw led the Hornets with 17 points going 7 for 8 from the foul line.  Ab Maknani added ten for the Hornets who advance to Saturday's Regional final at Hudson Valley CC. 

For Potsdam, PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Konnor Bigwarfe hit three 3-pointers and scored 15.   .

NYS CLASS D GIRLS BASKTBALL FIRST ROUND


ARGYLE 77, HAMMOND 65

The Red Devils run comes to an end in the first round of the New York Tournament as the Fighting Scots storm back in the second half.

Hammond led by eight early on in the second on a Alyssa Crosby three pointer that gave Hammond a 20-12 advantage.  Argyle ended the first half on a 15-9 run as Hannah Kennedy scored nine first half points.  Alyssa Crosby and Courtney Bova each scored 12 for the Red Devils.

Tied at 36-36 in the third, the Fighting Scots ended the third quarter on 12-3 stretch.  Argyle pulled away with nearly flawless foul shooting in the fourth as Jacqueline Miller went 17 for 17 from the line and scored 31 points in the game, 

Hammond was led by Alyssa Crosby's 27 points and Courtney Bova's 21.
