Hammond Girls Advance To Class D Semis, Potsdam Hockey Falls Again |

Potsdam is unable to clinch a playoff spot against the Red Dragons an now will have beat the number one team i the country on Satruday night to advance to the SUNYAC playoffs.
Sy Nutkavitch joined he Bears 100 point club assisting on Mike Foy's short handed goal at 4:43 of the first period. That 1-0 lead was short lived as Nick Zappia scored unassisted just three minutes later.
Potsdam regained the lead back on a Nick Avgerinos power play goal at 9:15 of the first period.
Cortland scored the next two Zappia assisted on Peter Lampado's game tying goal and scored from behind the goal, banking the puck off a Potsdam defender to give the Red Drgons a 3-2 lead.
Out went Dylan Ellis and in Kevin McFarland as he held serve when Matt Viola would tie the game in the third.
However, Cortland would win the game at 11:19 of the third on Chris Kaleta's unassisted marker. Adam Bevilaqua adde an insurance marker and Kaleta an empty netter to send the Bears to their third consecutive lost.
Potsdam will now have to beat the number one team in the country, Oswego, to advance to the SUNYAC playoffs. They can also advance with a Morrisville win against Brockport.

CLASS D GIRLS BASKETBALL QUARTERFINALS

The Red Devils open up new era of D-Arama action at SUNY Canton with a quarterfinal win versus the Pirates.
Both teams struggled early on scoring but it was Hammond to run out to a signifigant margin with a 15-5 second quarter. PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Courtney Bova started the run with a couple buckets and Alyssa Crosby charged out of the gates with a 15 point first half.
The Red Devils built a 20 point lead after three quarters before Harrisville scored the first eight of the fourth quarter to the game back within twelve. Hammond responded scoring the last six of the game as Crosby scored 21 and pulled down 17 rebounds. Bova managed 14.
For the Pirates, Amy Paro hit three 3 pointers and tallied 11. Hammond takes on Chateaugay in the Class D Semi-Finals on Tuesday
