The battle for first place in the NAC West goes to Hammond downing Hermon-Dekalb in Dekalb Junction.
Down six to the Red Devils after one quarter, the Green Demons were able to take a couple one point leads. The latest a 19-18 lead before the Red Devils ended the first half on an 8-2 run. PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Alyssa Crosby managed a team high 13 points by halftime.
Hermon-Dekalb came close, but were unable to regain the lead as Hammond led late in the game 44-42 and held on to the ball until they were forced to the line. After two free throw misses by Hammond, Hermon-Dekalb got the ball back but were unable to tie the game. Crosby hit two free throws to push the lead to four with 12 seconds to play.
Crosby led the gym with 25 points and 13 rebounds, ten coming in the fourth quarter. Gabby Marshall hit three 3-pointers
For the Green Demons, Brianna Sayer fell three points shy of reaching 1,000 for her career with 13 points. Jocelyn Moulton and Kelly Williams each scored eight.
