MANY STILL WITHOUT POWER TODAY AS DEEP FREEZE SETS IN--Temperatures barely above zero today will present issues with snow and ice removal; Friday's ice and snow has turned into a hard crust difficult to scrape off. Wear appropriate gear to go out today and allow enough time to remove snow from your vehicle safely. There are many National Grid customers without power today; no estimate is available from the utility. A check with St.Lawrence County Central Dispatch at 6 this morning found that shelters at the Ogdensburg Salvation Army on Franklin Street and St.Lawrence NYSARC on Commerce Lane in Canton were still open for people to escape the cold if necessary. Tonight's low is expected to hover around 15-20 below zero.
