LEGISLATOR SAYS COUNTY SHOULD NOT BE THE “BE-ALL, END-ALL” FOR PUBLIC SERVICES—District 4 representative Alex MacKinnon told 99 News Tuesday that the county should be the 'provider of last resort' when considering services to the public, which is why he supports and advocates for the working out of a deal between NYSARC and the county to provide rural bus service. The two parties are considering an arrangement where passengers would be picked up on the same routes it employs for consumers throughout the county. The county cut the rural bus now run through a partnership with Roethel and the state DOT from its 2012 budget, with the last run December 23rd.
