EMPIRE STATE GAMES STRIKE BACK, MAYBE IN ROCHESTER IN 2013
According to a report form the Buffalo News,  a Rochester-based organization is planning to revive the summer Empire State Games in 2013 under an agreement with the state's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation that will allow the Empire State Sports Foundation to use the Empire State Games name and state equipment that had been dedicated to the event.

Scott Bell, who will be leaving his role at the Monroe County Sports Commission at the end of the year to run the foundation, said the plan is to relaunch the Games in Rochester in 2013. As was the case for Buffalo in 2009, the 2011 Games scheduled for Rochester had to be canceled over budget issues in state government. The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation staff that ran the games was dismantled in late 2010, though the winter ESGs in Lake Placid have continued to operate with the help of strong local support.

Locally, the most success from the Games came from the Girls Ice Hockey evetn where Team Adirondack won several Gold Medals with talent that went on to D-I and D-III colligiate careers.
