99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR WEDNESDAY, 11/16/11

MAKING LOCAL PRODUCE MORE AFFORDABLE IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE SOLVED--Tony Collins, Co-Char of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council, says the high cost of energy, and the forecast it will remain high is reason to believe that consumers will purchase locally-grown and locally-raised agricultural products as the cost of importing them to the North Country from elsewhere increases. The plan submitted to the state on time has a bullet-point to fund a mobile processing unit for the North Country Pastures organization of Dekalb Junction so local farmers can sell poultry to retailers and restaurants at lower cost than imported.
