ALMOST HALF OF ALL BUSINESSES IN THE NORTH COUNTRY HAVE 10 EMPLOYEES OR LESS--Kate Fish, Executive Director of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council told an audience at SUNY Potsdam Friday the "pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit" will be promoted heavily in the plan being submitted to the state. Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy says decision on what regions will share in millions of dollars in tax breaks and other incentives for business growth will be made before the holidays in December

ACCUSED CANTON DRUG DEALER BRANDON BAXTER JAILED WITHOUT BAIL AFTER FRIDAY NIGHT TRAFFIC STOP--The 20-year-old Fayetteville man (a SUNY Canton student) was picked up on felony sale and possession charges after he was found to allegedly possess LSD during a pullover on Gouverneur Street late last night. He was arrested in late October on felony marijuana and misdemeanor drug possession counts stemming from a county drug task force raid of a West Main Street apartment that netted almost 13 ounces of pot, and sizable amounts of hashish, LSD, ecstasy, and prescription medication. Village Justice Greg Storie released Baxter to probation in October, but sent him to the St.Lawrence Correctional facility Friday.
