GOVERNOR BREAKS GRIDLOCK ON DOWNTOWN POTSDAM BLOCK--North Country Economic Development Council Co-Chair and Clarkson University President Dr. Anthony Collins announced this afternoon that Governor Andrew Cuomo has committed to turning over the right-of -way from the state to the Village of Potsdam within 30 days the section of Market Street from Raymond Street to Main Street--the main section of downtown where Potsdam Summer Festival and many other landmark events are held. Planning and Development Director Fred Hanss says the change would give the Village more power in terms of signage and other revitalization aspects. Collins says the commitment from Cuomo is exactly what communities are looking to the council for.
