MOTHER OF CHILDREN IN CAR OF ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVER, ARRESTED FOR ENDANGERING THE WELFARE--Potsdam Police charged 29-year-old Melanie Stone yesterday for allegedly allowing her three kids--a 4-month-old, a 2-year-old, and a 7-year-old to be in a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Stanley Stephenson, Jr. of Norwood August 1st. Stephenson was arrested for Agravated DWI under Leandra's Law and five other counts after he was spotted allegedly weaving on Lawrence Avenue, and then spotted allegedly getting a 30-pack of beer at a store on Outer Market Street--with the kids in the car. Stephenson posted bail and was released until a future court date, Stone was released yesterday to appear in Potsdam Village Court today.
