LABAFF: CAREY HELPED PRESERVE JOBS IN TOUGH TIMES--Ernie Labaff of Potsdam, President Emeritus of Aluminum, Brick, and Glass Workers International Union and a former Democratic St.Lawrence County Legislator, told 99 News this morning he knew former Governor Hugh Carey personally, and that Carey helped resolve issues with power at Alcoa in the 1970's that kept people working during the era of high inflation. Carey passed away Sunday at age 92.
