SUNY POTSDAM STUDENT UNION AND THATCHER HALL MAY BE TORN DOWN, REPLACED IN THE NEAR FUTURE—Campus President Dr. John Schwaller told 99 News Thursday, before news broke about his possible assumption of a possibly-consolidated Canton and Potsdam campus leaderships, that the two adjoining structures were targeted in a recent facilities master plan for renovation and remodeling. However, it was determined that the cost of construction would be less than a retrofit; therefore Schwaller will be working with SUNY Central and the state Construction Fund to get capital bonding for new. The Union was opened about 1970; Thatcher in the 1950's.
