CASINO MONEY NOT IN DANGER, CHIEF COUNTY PLANNER SAYS--St.Lawrence County Planning Director Keith Zimmerman told the county Planning Board last week it was his understanding proper procedures are being followed, as far as the negotiations between the state and St.Regis Mohawk Tribe regarding a breach-of-contract dispute that has held up the payment of about 2 million dollars in casino gaming compact revenue to the county. The Tribe claims the state allowed slot machines at Ganienkeh in Altona, in violation of the deal. The money is in escrow. The discission of the casino money came up last week in a larger discussion of the county's ongoing fiscal woes.
