RACQUETTE RIVER TOURISM/RECREATION MARKETING EFFORTS CONTINUE--Racquette River Blueway Corridor Board rep and Potsdam Town Councilmember Judy Rich told the rest of the Council last week a map is needed for promotional materials, the Potsdam part of the map is covered but a map of the entire Corridor is needed.
CENTRAL NEW YORK MAN PERISHES IN APPARENT DROWNING ON ST.LAWRENCE--56-year-old John M. Huniford of Brewerton, NY was reported missing early Sunday morning by his father, who found his son's towel and clothes on a dock off Indian Point Road in the Town of Hammond. A missive search ensued by multiple police, fire and rescue agencies. Huniford was found deceased about 40 yards from the dock. Autopsy results will determine the exact cause of his death.
MOTORCYCLE CRASH CLAIMS NORFOLK MAN--48-year-old Shawn LaDue was killed as he failed to make a turn and struck guiderails off County Route 35 in the Town of Potsdam early Saturday. The crash occurred as LaDue was being pursued by Norfolk Town Police and Sheriff's Deputies after he allegedly failed to comply with police order. St.Lawrence County Coroner June Wood declared LaDue dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma. The investigation continues with autopsy results pending.
ALBANY AREA MAN JAILED ON DRUNKEN DRIVING CHARGES IN POTSDAM--Potsdam Police say 50-year-old Marc Beaulieu of Ganesvoort was charged with DWI, Refusal To Submit to a Breath Test, and other counts after he was spotted allegedly getting out of a pick-up and having difficulty walking on Waverly Street. Beaulieu was arraigned and jailed on 1800 dollars cash bail or 3600 dollars bail bond.
FOUR PEOPLE CHARGED IN POTSDAM 'SUPER-SOAKER' INCIDENT--Potsdam Police charged 23-year-old Jonathan Zakarauskas of Norfolk, 18-year-old Adam Malone of Massena, 17-year-old Chelsey Streeter of Lisbon, and a male juvenile were charged after a vehicle passed by a couple crossing from Ives Park onto Market Street late Saturday night and the couple got squirted with vinegar shot from a large squirt gun. Police later caught up with the vehicle and found an alleged three super-soakers and two gallons of vinegar. All four suspects were released to appear in court at a later date
