GRIFFO SAYS ETHICS REFORM DEAL 'HAD TO HAPPEN'--47th District State Senator Joe Griffo told 99 News yesterday he has very little criticism over a deal made by leadership recently over ethics reform legislation, except to say "there are bad apples in any organization, and bad people know how to take advantage, despite good laws..." Griffo says there was a need for more disclosure of legislators' financial dealings and business ties to see whether there is any conflict of interest. ALSO FROM ALBANY....Both Griffo and 48th District Senator Patty Ritchie have gone on record as being against home-rule legislation that would allow St.Lawrence County legislators to raise the sales tax from 3 to 4 percent.

FEDERAL JUDGE DISMISSES SUIT FILED BY FORMER COLTON-PIERREPONT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER PEGGY MOUSAW, SAYING THERE WAS INADEQUATE EVIDENCE TO BACK CLAIMS OF RETALIATION FOR CRITICISM OF CAPITAL PROJECT, AND COLLUSION IN ATTEMPTS TO GET HER FIRED FROM HER JOB AND KICKED OFF THE BOARD. JUDGE DAVID HURD ALSO SAYS MOUSAW "ESTABLISHED BAD FAITH MOTIVATED BY MALICE". MOUSAW SAYS THE RULING IS A "VICTORY WITHOUT HONOR".
